Most people spend December worrying whether they’ve been good enough to receive gifts from Saint Nicholas. Or, if not that, they spend most of December deciding what movie to see on Christmas and also wondering if their messiah will ever come. Which he probably won’t. But both of these choices are wrong. What you should be worrying about is what comedy shows you should be attending this month, because December is literally exploding with great choices. Alright, not literally. It would be hard to make a month explode. Don’t even really know what that would look like. Probably a lot of days strewn all over the place. Regardless, there are a lot of amazing shows this month, some that Team Grawlix even isn’t a part of! Imagine that. Hyping something that ain’t even us. So be sure to check out one or all of these shows this December. Then get back to worrying about your god in 2012.
12/8 – Grapes of Rad Present Rory Scovel, Gothic Theater at 8 p.m. One of the funniest comics in the country with Team Grawlix, Chris Charpentier and Nazi-pop-smiths Total Ghost? Pshaw! You’d be a fool to miss this. A damned fool!
12/17 – LadyFace Presents…The Greatest Story Ever Told, Spark Theater, 240 S. Broadway, 7:30 p.m. and 10 p.m., $5. The ladies behind LadyFace straight killed it with their first sketch-driven show awhile back. We’re all psyched to see what they come up with next!
12/21, 12/22- Chuck Roy’s Dirty Holiday Show, Comedy Works Downtown (12/21), Comedy Works Landmark (12/22), www.comedyworks.com. A goddamn bonafide holiday tradition, each year Chuck invites his friends (the best comics in town) for a raucous, dirty show to wash off the unholy taste of a month of Christian spirit. Come. Sup from this cup. One of the best, most talked about shows every year. Even if it is a goddamn marathon.
12/23 – Josh Blue, Comedy Works Downtown, 8 p.m., 10 p.m. Josh Blue is the fucking man. He won Last Comic Standing once, blah, blah, blah he’s hilarious. One of our favorites to watch, always. And his headlining dates at Comedy Works are rare, as he’s always on the road. So do yourself a favor and check out one of his shows as he’s home for Jesus Day. Do it!
12/30 – Gruntport Holiday Show, 8 p.m., Buntport Theater, 717 Lipan. Team Grawlix teams up with the hilarious Buntport Theater for a tasteful and festive foray through the holiday season. Heavy sketch. A little stand-up. Psst, the premier of Episode Four of “The Grawlix.” Holy shit, dudes and dudettes. Holy shit.
Happy Holidays! God bless us, urryone!
